Covid-19 Numbers are Increasing In Parker County

Covid-19

The headline says it all. As I’m typing this, there are 84 active cases in our county. That’s about twice as many as there were just a few weeks ago. And overnight, President Trump and the First Lady tested positive. Please join me in praying for them.

I’m as over this thing as anyone! I don’t like wearing a mask whenever I’m out in public. I don’t like not being able to give a firm handshake or a hug.

However, it isn’t about me.

There are several issues with Covid-19 is that make our church particularly vulnerable.

  • It generally affects “seasoned citizens” worse than the general population.
  • It generally affects those with vulnerable health issues (cancer and otherwise compromised immune systems, diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure) worse than the general population.
  • It is possible to spread the virus without having any symptoms yourself.

Almost all of our church members fall into one or more of the above vulnerabilities. For these reasons, I feel that I need to remind everyone in Parker County — and especially when you’re inside the building at FCBC — to wear a face-covering whenever you’re out and about.

Yeah, I’ve heard the argument that “Facemasks don’t work”. But let me ask: If masks don’t work, why do surgeons wear them? If masks don’t work, why do dentists wear them? If masks don’t work, why do ER doctors wear them? The main reason these people wear masks isn’t to protect THEM from getting sick. It is to prevent YOU from getting sick if THEY are sick while they are with you.

You may have Covid-19 and not even know it. If someone around you is vulnerable, you could cause that person to get sick … and possibly die. Wearing a face-covering isn’t about you or your rights. Wearing a face-covering is about protecting the vulnerable people around us.

If you are not comfortable being around other people, please stay home and stay safe. If you aren’t feeling well, please stay home and stay safe. If you have been exposed to Covid-19, please contact your physician and self-quarantine for 14 days. Meanwhile, join us on Facebook Live for our weekly Sunday Morning Worship Services.

By all means, if you are healthy, please join us for Bible Study, Prayer Meeting, or our Morning Worship Service. If you don’t have a mask, we will gladly provide one for you — for the sake of everyone present.

Thanks for your understanding during this difficult time. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me personally.
