Read Through the Bible With Us in 2021

Read the Bible together

God loves spending time with His kids!

One of the most important things we can do as believers is to spend time with Him. And one of the most important things we can do in spending time with God is listening to His voice in His Word.

Normally, when people try to read through the Bible in a year, they begin in Genesis on January 1 and read chapter after chapter until they finish Revelation 22 on December 31. That’s not a bad plan. In fact, there are lots of good plans that can help you read through the Bible.

But the Bible isn’t laid out in the order that events unfolded. It makes more sense to read through the Bible in the order it happened. Take for instance the Psalms. Why read them in isolation? Why not read them as you’re reading through the story of David, the author of many of the Psalms? Doesn’t it make sense to read the writings of Solomon when you’re reading about him? When reading through the history of the kings (1, 2 Kings and 1,2 Chronicles), why not read them concurrently as it happened?

In 2021, Faith Community Baptist Church will read through the Bible in a roughly-chronological way. Yes, we’ll begin in Genesis and end in Revelation, but everything in between will fall in a generally chronological way. But you won’t lose your way. We’ll give you tools to keep track of where you are.

Yes, it’s a big challenge; we’ll read about three to five chapters each day. Yes, it will take time — about a half-hour every day. But what could be more rewarding than seeing the story of God’s unfolding grace through the year?

We’ll use a plan developed by Dr. George Guthrie. You can download a copy of it here to print and keep it in your Bible; just mark your completed readings as you go. Or, if you prefer, you can read through the Bible App. With the Bible App, you can track your progress as you read. The Bible App lets you choose from several Bible versions, many of which will actually read the Bible text to you on your smartphone, tablet, or computer if you wish.

If you want to better understand God’s unfolding plan of God’s grace, join us! I believe that God will reward your diligence! If you will commit to trying to read through the Bible in a year, please complete the form below and I’ll send some encouraging words to you throughout the year. You don’t have to be a member of our church to read with us.
