Golden Quarter 2023
When I worked in retail, the company called the last Quarter of the year the “Golden Quarter”. In fact, many retailers make most of their money during the Golden Quarter. Some companies may even operate at a loss for the first three Quarters of the year but make up for the losses in just three months.
Our church has a big heart and gives a lot. I mean a lot! And we are entering our Golden Quarter!
Because of God’s blessings and the faithful giving of our members, around 14% of our monthly expenditures goes to our missionaries and missions partnerships. Typically we give more than that during our Golden Quarter.
This Quarter — October, November, and December — we are giving special offerings to three of our own mission partners in Vancouver, Manilla, and Weatherford.
Our ladies (and a few men) have been crafting one hundred blankets to give to residents at a local nursing home.
This month and the first two weeks of November, we are collecting toys and other items in shoe boxes to give through Samaritan’s Purse “Operation Christmas Child“.
This picture is from last year when our members prayed over our shoe boxes at the end of a Sunday Morning Worship Service.
We will also be collecting a special offering at Christmas to benefit our international missionaries through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.
Every dollar collected in this offering goes directly to the field; there’s no overhead taken away from the funds given!
We begin with our annual Drive-Thru “Trunk or Treat” on October 29 at 6pm. I’ll share another post about this special event in the coming days. Check back soon for more details!
If you want to go to a big church with lots of programs, we are clearly not the church for you. However, if you want to “get your hands dirty” doing the Lord’s work in supporting the work of missionaries (some of whom you have a personal connection with) and missions organizations, prayerfully consider visiting, joining, and participating in our small fellowship’s activities.
Growing in Grace and Knowledge,
Pastor Craig
