I’m often asked for recommendations for growing in your relationship with God. Here are some of my favorites.
Bible Translations
The very best Bible translation is the one you understand, read, study, and enjoy. If you don’t have a Bible that fits that description, please let me know; I’d love to give you one!
God originally spoke to His people in common, everyday languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koine Greek). But since most of us can’t read those languages from thousands of years ago, I recommend the following common, everyday, modern English translations:
Christian Standard Bible (CSB)
English Standard Version (ESV)
The New Living Translation (NLT)
The New International Version (NIV)
The Berean Standard Bible (BSB)
However, if you prefer the text tradition (TR) of the King James Version (KJV), I recommend that you try using the New King James Version (NKJV) or the Modern English Version (MEV). You will find them much easier to understand.
Regardless of which Bible translation(s) you use, 1 Corinthians 14:9 implies that we need to understand God’s Word in our own heart language if we want to benefit the most from it.
